One of our members- S0C9 [Steve] has taken on and completed the worthy task of making a pdf of our own 'getting started guide'.

This is quite an accomplishment. Lets all say thanks and hats off to Steve. This is a document that will surely be a terrific resource for everyone, especially the new comers to the dps24.

Enjoy!

Also, the dps24 service manual and schematcis can be found there too.

Dan

I just ordered a DPS and am a little intimidated by the learning curve. I'm sure all the effort folks put into this will make it much easier to learn my way around the machine. Still waiting on the UPS man!

Thanks again.

Got my DPS24 yesterday...
It's a demo unit and already has some projects on it. possibly these were done at AKAI, but i'm thinking they were done at Sweetwater where i got it.

I just want to thank you for the pdf's i've found here. i got up early this morning to see if there was a "quickstart" guide, and sure enough, it's been done for my benefit!

i've downloaded the pdf and will get started today. the first thing i will do, i guess, is try to burn some of what's on the machine to a cd so i can wipe all that off the internal drive.

one bad thing; i won't have internet access where the DPS is housed. it'd be nice to get on this forum as i encounter problems with the machine right in front of me.

one more thing... i have the DPS sitting on top of my piano, but don't really like it there. if i move it to a place where i can't see the machine while i record, what's the best idea for a remote? i just bought something called TranzPort which is a wireless remote for Digital Performer. maybe i can run DPS from my mac?

Akai's German site has a detailed list of approved drives:

http://www.akai-pro.de/downloads/listen/z48_mpc4000_dps24media%20list.pdf

It lists the Plextor PX-W5232TA as the "official" DPS24 drive for ver 1.60b Firmware.

Excellent job on the quick start guide, Steve. It was invaluable to me for loading the V1.60 update using Windows 98. Using your detailed instructions, it was no problem downloading it through the USB port.

I asked Akai for schematics and stuff, since the set here doesnt include pre-amps and power board.

They sent me a nice clean set of pdfs, e-pdfs rather than the scanned versions we have so far, including the ones we dont have for 7 seg display, preamps, power board, pan enc, auxin, and SMPTE and ADAT options.

There are also some board track layout files. I cant put them up at the moment cos I broke my web software, but I am happy to do so later, or anyone can have them and put them up.

Hi Phil,

Please do make them available. I would love to download them to have on file "just in case". (not that I could make sense of them)

Phil,
I would be very interested in those too. It would be great if someone could host them for us - any takers?
Steve.

I have plenty of server space available if you'd like me to do it.

wouldn't it make more sense to host ALL the docs in the same location ???
instead of going to site A for this, site B for that and so on ??
I got stacks of space, and have no issue hosting the new stuff.
Let me know !!
