Hi all! It's been quite some time since I've posted here. A few years ago, I moved on to using Cubase for my music production. It's a bit of a learning curve as it is a very complex software. Like anything, the more flexibility/complexity, the bigger the learning curve (and options paralysis!).

I still regret having given my DPS24 away, however, for one single reason. I should have kept it just for recording the raw tracks for then exporting to Cubase. I experimented before I gave the DPS away, recording some guitar and vocals on the DPS and then into Cubase - back to back - matching levels as best I could etc. The DPS tracks just sounded better - less "clinical" is best I can describe. I hate to use the cliches like warmer, more harmonic etc...but those do describe it best.

I figured it must just would take me more time to best use Cubase - after all - they are both digital, and Cubase is considered "world class". I am using an RME Fireface UFX interface which is very high quality...

Not that Cubase sounds "bad" - not at all. I never thought of the DPS24 as having "a sound", but in retrospect, I think it does.
I am very happy with Cubase, and satisfied with my recordings. For mixing, it really has great options for workflow, busing, groups and "VCA Faders" etc.

Still miss the physical controller aspect - and have considered a Mackie controller - or even the Slate MT2.

Good to see folks still check in here. I learned so much here; and it elevated my skills, aside form the specifics of the DPS24 platform.

Hello Larry

I understand the idea of wanting to expand to other horizons, but I always figured that it would be best to keep the deeps, regardless of what other gear I experiment with. So, I will always hang on to this. Good to see you are dropping by.
